This grand event took place on Sunday the 13th of March. Better late than never eh?
Arch Hill is the smallest suburb in Auckland. Thank you to Jan Maree for this wee morsel, I shall treasure it forever!
Jan Maree was the Compere of this fabulous occasion, looking to die for in the denim shorts that revealed thighs, well brushed. She was there to keep the proceedings rolling, introducing the array of talent, and she did a fine job I must say.

The Ataia space was blessed by some very moving Samoan song birds. They asked for the well being of the space and of the artists and also gave thanks for the natural born talent that has gathered in this place.

Talented solo act Mitchell then took us away to another place with his soulful,
melancholy tunes. He looked an absolute picture on the Hire Pool truck.

We came to give away Time. Hand tooling! No, it's not what you think! Hand tooling is in fact a very old and important tradition of the pacific island peoples. The contestant had to answer three questions and do a jig in order to obtain the Hand Tooling work. Ian was the lucky winner, and he received some beautiful work.

Next up for our hilarity’s pleasure we had Spit Roast, a double comedian act, crossed with street theatre. They are very talented Lads who had the whole crowd in stitches with their antics with latex gloves and balloon’s. These guys popped up several times over the evening much to my delight.

Easy Tiger were the next musical delight. I heard a rumour that they play at the Kings Arms when not assisting with the opening of an Arts space. They were toe tapping, trip down memory lane kind of guys.

Onto the stage came one of the bands I had been waiting for, Runninghouse. Lead Freak (Hooray for Freaks & For Boobies) Rich from Manic had me in goosebumps wailing to the tune of the melodious music they were playing.

Another of the skin arts was next. This one really got my rocks off. It’s
called Pocketing or Neck Stapling. This was done by Aaron from Pierce Watt Body Piercing. He performed the procedure on Mitchell, who looked a little apprehensive at first. Once Aaron was into the swing of things though, Mitchell relaxed and went with the flow. I have personally found that the waiting the imagined pain, is the hardest part of the whole piercing. I found the whole thing so fascinating and quite frankly, a bit of a turn on that I am planning to have three put in my upper arm!

My own personal highlight for the Ataia Art Fusion Extravaganza was being privileged to see Andrew Fagan play. I was telling him the last time I saw him was when I was 14 or 15, still at High School, and they played in our quad at school. I love him now and I loved him then. What a treat.

Now in the true sense of free spirited artists, the next band, the Beautiful Losers were booting it to get to Ataia to play. So while we waited we were entertained by some random poetry. This was exceedingly pleasing and the poetry was witty and masterful. Beautiful Looser then arrived ad began to set up inside. Brent from Ataia was working away on another victim. It was an absolutely stunning piece of work, done to the sweeping music of the Beautiful Losers.
As you can tell by this flowery mumble fuck bullshit rant, I had a bloody marvellous time. We were all so well looked after by the hosts from Ataia, and I must say the hugest thanks to them for their hospitality, and I’ll be seeing them soon for more ink.
